Once a year, the runway belongs to you. Join us for the 2026 YYG Run the Runway - a 5km community run on the actual runway of the Charlottetown Airport.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, lace up and run for the animals. Every dollar raised goes directly to the PEI Humane Society.

Event Details

  • Registration closes Friday, May 8th, at 9:00 pm.
  • Race day is Saturday, May 9th, at 9:00 am.
  • The starting location will be at the Gray Group Hangar, located at 10 Maple Hills Avenue.
  • Parking is free in the grass lots on Maple Hills Avenue.

 

Race Kit Pickup

  • You can pick up your race kit between May 7th and 8th, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the YYG office.
  • Located at 250 Maple Hills Avenue, Suite 132.
  • Enter through the south end of the building and head upstairs. Our office is on the right.

Runway Run FAQs

Q: Do I have to run, or can I walk?

A: You can absolutely walk! The 2026 YYG Runway Run is open to all fitness levels. Whether you're a competitive runner or prefer a casual stroll, everyone is welcome on the runway. Please note that all participants must complete the race within one hour of the race start time. 

Q: What is the course distance?

A: The course is 5 kilometres, run on the actual runway of the Charlottetown Airport. This is a flat, paved surface — no hills, no trails.

Q: Are there washrooms available?

A: Yes, there will be portable toilets on site for participants.

Q: Is the run stroller/kid-friendly?

A: Yes! You are welcome to push a stroller throughout your run. If your child would like to run, they must be registered for the race.

Q: Where does my registration fee go?

A: Every dollar raised through the 2026 YYG Runway Run goes directly to the PEI Humane Society. Your entry fee supports the care and adoption of animals across Prince Edward Island.

Q: Are there prizes available?

A: There will be prizes awarded to the top 3 female and male runners. Additional door prizes for all participants will be drawn prior to the race start, and the Porter flight giveaway will be drawn when the race ends. All winners will be notified regardless of whether the prize is claimed on race day.
