YYG Charlottetown Airport Receives Health Accreditation from Airports Council International

Charlottetown, PE – Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, YYG Charlottetown Airport has been committed to doing everything possible to protect the health and safety of our employees, tenants, guests, and passengers. These efforts have recently been recognized by Airports Council International (ACI) and YYG is now accredited in its Airport Accreditation program.

“Our team has consistently put health and at the top of our priority list,” said YYG CEO Doug Newson. “The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted and elevated the importance of this priority, and this accreditation adds an additional layer of confidence that our measures and policies are aligned with global best practices.”

ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation program is designed to reassure the travelling public that airport facilities remain safe and that precautions are being taken to limit health risks during the travel process. Participation in the program is voluntary for airports, who are also required to complete ongoing self-assessments and quality assurances, leading to a cycle of continuous improvement.

“For the past two years, we have been working closely with the provincial and federal governments to facilitate evolving travel restrictions, following the guidelines designed to slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Shelley Christian, Vice President of Operations, YYG. “We are proud of the work that has been accomplished since March 2020 and will continue to assess our policies and protocols to ensure workers, travellers, and guests have an airport experience that is as safe possible.”
