About Airport Worker’s Day 2026:
As part of the Canadian Airports Council’s Airport Workers Day, nine airport workers from across the country are recognized with a national award that celebrates their dedication and contribution to our industry. We are proud to share that Trudy Gordon is YYG’s first-ever national award recipient, taking home the 2026 Outstanding Leadership Award.

At YYG, we are fortunate to have a team of dedicated people who show up every day with professionalism, care, and a genuine commitment to the passengers and communities we serve. This year, that dedication was recognized on a national stage.
Trudy Gordon, who recently celebrated 20 years with the YYG team, was named the 2026 recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award. It is the first time a member of our team has been recognized with a national Airport Workers Day award, making this milestone all the more special.
The Outstanding Leadership Award honours a supervisor or manager who has steered their team with exceptional leadership qualities, ensuring smooth operations within their department. It is a recognition that could not be more fitting for someone who has spent two decades showing up for her team and for this airport. Trudy’s personal dedication and initiative go above and beyond what is expected, and her ability to guide her team while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism has made a meaningful impact at YYG.
“Trudy is exactly the kind of person this award was created for,” said Doug Newson, CEO of the Charlottetown Airport Authority. “Her commitment to her team and to the passengers we serve is something we see reflected in our operations every single day. This recognition is incredibly well deserved, and we are so proud to have her as part of the YYG family.”
Airport Workers Day is a national celebration led by the Canadian Airports Council, recognizing the people who keep Canada’s airports moving. We project more than 150 million passengers will travel through Canada’s airports this year, supported by 224,000 direct airport jobs. Behind every takeoff and every landing are dedicated individuals who make it all possible.
Trudy, on behalf of everyone at YYG, thank you for everything you do. Congratulations.
